Swami Advayananda was inspired by the teachings of the visionary saint Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda and joined Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai, the Gurukula of the Chinmaya Mission, at a young age of 18. In 1992, on completing his Vedanta Course at the Sandeepany, he was ordained into the dedicated spiritual life by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. Later, in 2003, he was initiated into the sacred order of sannyasa by Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda.

Resident Acharya for the 19th Sandeepany Vedanta Course
After initially serving the Chinmaya Mission Centres at Kodaikanal and Trichy in Tamilnadu, Swamiji guided the Spiritual and Cultural Education at the Chinmaya International Residential School (CIRS), Coimbatore, from 1996-2000. Thereafter in the year 2000, he became Acharya of the Sandeepany Vidyamandir, at Coimbatore, and conducted the Vedanta Course in Tamil–English. Since 2003, he has been serving at CIF. Between 2011-13, he was Acharya for the 15th Vedanta Course at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai. He also served as the Acharya of the one-year residential Vedanta Sadhaka Course at Adi Sankara Nilayam in 2021-22.
Devoted to the study and teaching of Vedanta, and with many Gita and Upanishad discourses to his credit, Swami Advayananda has authored several books on Vedanta such as the Holy Gītā Ready Reference, The Gordian Knot of Self-effort and Destiny; various Home Study Courses on Vedanta such as the Advanced Vedanta Course; and many research articles such as the Vedanta Unveiled. He has also edited several works in English and Sanskrit such as the Ādi Śaṅkara – Finite to the Infinite, Sūktisudhā and Home Study Courses such as the Foundation Vedanta Course, Bhagavad Gita Course and Upanishad Course. He has overseen and co-redacted the scholarly publication of the 2-volume work on the Brahmasutra. He played a pivotal role in the research and coordination of Upanishad Ganga, a television series depicting the wisdom of the Upanishads.
Swamiji continues to serve the vision of CIF and CVV in furthering the study, research and dissemination of Indian Knowledge Systems and their application in contemporary knowledge fields.
